Welcome to Summitsbase

The friendly summits site

This site is aimed primarily at Radio Amateurs who participate in programmes such as Summits on the Air (SOTA), Summitsbase Awards, Wainwrights on the Air (WOTA), Belgium on the Air (BOTA) and General Mountain Award (GMA), but 'normal' summit baggers and walkers should also find the site useful, although they will have to ignore the references to antennas and radio.

The main Wiki is a repository for information that would be useful for people ascending summits. There is also provision for equipment reviews and any other information you would like to share. There is an area for your blogs and forums for your use to share your views or even buy and sell equipment.

The data on this site is constantly being updated as people contribute to it. At the moment, many of the summits in England and Wales have at least one route entered, but more routes are being added all the time.

This is your site and you are encouraged to contribute and add to, or edit, the information it contains. If you see errors or think you can improve any submissions then just do it. Because there is an amount of trust involved you need to log on to use many features of the site, including facilities such as editing the pages, forums (reflectors) and areas currently under development. Licensed radio amateurs please use your callsign as your username.

Now the small print.

This is an ever developing site (since March 2008) and some sections of information are currently not as detailed as we would like (e.g. routes, parking spots for individual summits etc). Of course the solution is in your hands. It is your site and you can edit the pages with nothing more than your normal web browser.

The site administrators and contributors do not accept any responsibility for your safety or for the accuracy of any of the routes/information shown on this website. Please ensure that you have the correct knowledge and equipment to keep yourself safe in the hills and mountains.

Enjoy.

Click Summits to go to the Summits Information page.

Otherwise use the search box (in the panel to the left) to find the summit that you require.
